issue six : the shape of things to come

The very name of Esse Microderm Exfoliator makes me feel like I am reciting a line from an early nineties Arnold Schwarzenegger film. Rest assured, that this hi-tech exfoliator does not provide the same offering as facial exfoliators from the same era (filled with plastic microbeads and large particles that literally scratched the skin). This creamy textured exfoliator is smooth to the eye and to the touch. By using micro-particles of kaolin and calcium carbonate to gently, yet effectively exfoliate the skin, this intelligent offering leaves my skin looking and feeling polished. Esse uses revolutionary science and new insights from the Human Microbiome Project in the development of all their products. Scientific tests have proved that humans are not, in fact, a single species, as one might expect. Technically speaking, us human beings, are ecology made of millions of microbes and (human) cells – all of which work together to perform the intricate functions that our bodies process.

The ingredients in this product – as well as the rest of the range – support the healthy functioning of our skin,  by selectively ‘feeding’ the good microbes that live on the surface of our body’s largest organ.

Esse

Lightly scented with the comforting citrus smell of Petitgrain, this formulation contains a number of ingredients indigenous to its homeland, (which also happens to be my homeland) South Africa.

Rooibos (or red bush as it is often referred to here on these fair isles) has excellent antioxidant properties, when used both internally (rooibos tea) and externally.

The glass bottle the product comes in is also reminiscent of the colour of our beloved rooibos.

Should your skin be feeling a little rougher round the edges thanks to this winter weather, perhaps it’s time to invest in a hi-tech exfoliator which doesn’t change the shape of our future enviroment.

As always, only purchase new product if it is a need and not simply a want. Buying for the sake of a review is wasteful.

TIPS

Use just once a week and rinse off with a sponge or soft cotton cloth and warm water.
