issue nine : here comes the night
Dull, lusterless hair with split ends a-plenty? Me too! Well, until recently when I had a good cut and have stopped wearing my hair in a split-end-inducing top knot. I have also been using this Recover Hair Oil by Californian brand, Reverie. And…I love it. I’ve been using it at a night as treatment. I mean, we treat our skin, why not our hair? On occasion, adding it to my leave-in conditioner for an extra boost of hydration penetration. I don’t usually like oil in my hair…especially not at night leaving oily marks on my beloved Ettitude pillowcases (these pillowcases have made my boyfriend a bedding snob… he loves them more than me!). This oil, however, does not leave my hair feeling like an oil-slick. It absorbs quickly on wet or dry hair and smells like husky winter, rosemary-infused nights.
The range is designed by a professional hairstylist, Garrett Markenson. I like products like this because I feel that they have been designed for my needs. Not only my personal needs but that they can be used in my professional kit too. So while I have been using it at night in a personal capacity, it’s also great to protect and treat the hair before doing a blowdry on a client. I love how it makes the hair smell, even when heat is added…which is not something I can say for many hair products that are designed to be used as heat-protectors. The key ingredients of Marula Oil, sustainably derived Squalane, and Crambe Abyssinica are designed to penetrate the hair seal and deliver a whole lot of delicious, loving nutrients that repair and protect your hair.
Now, it also claims to repairs split ends. I don’t know that I can say that is completely true. Certainly not from my trialling of the product. What it can do is support the hair (like a good lover should) so that it’s not so susceptible to splitting in the first place. As the saying goes…prevention is better than cure! So while this sexy black bottle does cost a pretty penny, a little goes a long way and it is filled with expensive essential oils, handcrafted and free from harmful, but also cheap synthetic filler oils that don’t really love your hair…or the planet.
The statement on their website reads
“REVERIE has a strong commitment to sourcing the highest quality ingredients that are both natural and innovative. Transparency is key, and we choose to responsibly partner with organic, Fair Trade, EcoCert and small family farms across the globe. This commitment ensures only the highest quality ingredients are used and that these trades will continue to support families for generations to come.”
That’s what we call an #untaintedalternative!
Tips
Apply 1 – 3 pumps depending on the length and density of your hair. Apply to the damp or dry hair. I always start with the ends first – they are usually the thirstiest. Lastly and most importantly, don’t forget to relish in this Ever Recovery Hair Oil’s amazing smell sensation!
