We are on a sabbatical from producing content, until such time as it is safe to do so again. We are still accepting submissions.

What is clean beauty?

While there is no legal definition, we consider ‘Clean beauty’ as brands and products that consider their ingredients (which are predominately from natural and organic origins, unless a synthetic is a safer or more sustainable option), packaging, animals and the environment at large in the creation and manufacture of their products.

How long do your issues run for?

As of July 2018, our issues will run for four months.

Can I use makeup from conventional cruelty-free brands for submissions/commissions?

No. While we applaud conventional beauty brands who have truly gone cruelty-free, the idea behind UNTAINTED MAGAZINE  is that we showcase brands and products that go beyond just a cruelty-free approach.

What about vegan brands?

Provided the vegan brands aren’t filled with other unnecessary synthetic chemicals that are damaging to the environment, then absolutely.

Do you pay for submissions?

No. While our intention is to build a publication that supports and pays creatives for their work in due course, at this moment in time, we are still an independent publication without funding or advertising revenue and therefore cannot pay for submissions.

Can I submit a fashion story?

No. That would defeat the purpose of a directional beauty publication.

Do you supply “pull letters”?

We can supply pull letters for stylists and product requests from PR. Please send us a moodboard of your concept as well as the theme you are submitting to and we will gladly write one up for you.

Do you only feature certified brands?

No. We don’t believe that certification is the be-all and end-all of guarantees. Certifications can be expensive and come with their own set of pro’s & con’s. We will feature brands that claim to be natural and /organic/ethical, provided they have a fully accessible and transparent ingredient list available on their websites.

How do you vett the brands you feature on UNTAINTED?

We do a lot of research into the brands and products we choose to feature and review on this site. The brands must have made a public commitment to using safe ingredients, not testing on animals as well as limiting their impact on the environment. We will feature brands that have a fully transparent ingredients list, allowing us and you to have the right to choose what goes onto your skin and potentially into your body.

Are all the brands and products features in untainted magazine vegan?

No. While we love clean vegan brands, the products we feature are from suppliers who may use some animal products in their ingredients list, however, we check that these ingredients are sustainably sourced and do not harm any animals in the making of their product. eg: Certified honey and beeswax.

What if I can’t achieve my ideas with only clean beauty products?

The idea behind UNTAINTED MAGAZINE is to encourage artists to push the boundaries of what can be achieved with clean beauty. We encourage you to think differently and push yourself out of your comfort zone.
If there is a small number of items you cannot live without to create your beauty story, please get in touch, and we will consider it on a case by case basis.

Can I submit a grooming story?

Absolutely! You can submit a story about any race, religion or sexual orientation – provided it is related to makeup, on theme and using products within the confines of ‘clean beauty.’

Where can I see what the upcoming issues are going to be?

If sustainability is so important to you, why are you promoting products?

By only showcasing brands that uphold the ethos of sustainability, we believe we are providing global citizens with the information they need to make informed choices and help them spend their money wisely. This is also the very reason we do not show any price points on our reviews or recommendations. We also support the principles of sustainability by being mindful of the language we use. We don’t believe in ‘must-haves’ or trends, but rather do our utmost to provide anyone who is interested in a brand or product an opportunity to see a breakdown of how and why we have included products we recommend. And always promote the idea that our readers should only purchase a new product when they actually need it and not simply because we recommend it.
